Enjoy a welcome drink and a mince pie while you take part in classic Type Tasting games and experiments.

30 mins: Presentation by Sarah Hyndman.
This is a fun and interactive presentation. Find out why fonts/typefaces store your memories, how they can make chocolate taste better, and what they reveal about your own personality.

December Type Tasting Studio Sessions

Type Tasting founder Sarah Hyndman is the author of ‘Why Fonts Matter’ and ‘How to Draw Type and Influence People’. She is on a mission to make typography fun and engaging for all, and she believes that design can create positive change. She specialises in making a complex topic accessible with originality, humour, a dash of theatre and lashings of audience participation.

Sarah has been researching perception of typefaces for five years, she publishes collaborative studies with Professor Charles Spence of the Crossmodal Research Laboratory at the University of Oxford. Her Pop-up Lab appears regularly at events, she is also a judge for D&AD and Penguin.

December Type Tasting Studio Sessions

The Type Tasting studio is a large, wooden-floored studio on the first floor of a converted Victorian Chocolate Factory, which is home to a wide range of artists. The studio is full of typographic ephemera and an extensive design and typography library for inspiration.

London Overground: Dalston Kingsland, Dalston Junction, Rectory Road. Buses include 243, 67, 76 and 149. Parking is limited so public transport is recommended.

Please note that the studio is on the first floor and access is via an external metal staircase.
